Åsa Skogström (Sweden)

08 09 2006 - Sub-theme: Diversity

Åsa Skogström (Sweden)

Åsa Skogström is the CEO of The Hunger Project in Sweden. She has a business background with 18 years of experience in marketing, sales and management, both in Sweden and internationally. Before joining The Hunger Project in 2004, she was the Marketing Director at Sony Ericsson in Germany. Åsa Skogström is also the co-founder of a women's organisation called Nätverket Göran (the Göran Network). There is a story behind this name. Göran is a Swedish first name for a man and at the time the network was founded, there were more CEO’s named Göran in the top 500 corporations in Sweden than there were women CEO’s at all. In fact, seven years later, this is still the case!

The Hunger Project focuses on the empowerment of people, on making them the authors of their own future to end hunger and poverty without creating dependency. By examining the methods which have been developed by The Hunger Project, many parallels can be drawn in finding ways to create local leadership in corporations.
